About Atlas Moves Watching Dance Projects

Imagine an old warehouse, abandoned, barren, its window panes broken, its light bulbs burnt out. Then imagine light, colour and beauty injected into this tired space.

This is the vision behind presentations which delight audiences with dance in unconventional spaces, like old warehouses, public parks, and factories. Its aim is to build a new relationship between the audience and the art through performances in settings that offer new and exciting dimensions.

The man behind this vision is Bill James, described by the Toronto Star as "so far ahead of the mainstream that his works remain unique long after their premieres." Bill is a choreographer and artistic director who challenges his art and his audience. Working with artists from a variety of backgrounds, he produces dance, inventive community arts projects and choreographic labs for the world-renowned National Ballet of Canada.

In 1997 Bill created his own dance company called Atlas Moves Watching Dance Projects to encompass all of his professional activities.
