Spring Plant & Yard Sale
9:00 a.m. - Noon.
Saturday May 10 2008
Snow melts and runs away.
Icicles drip their last drop.
Breezes whisper southern accents.
Yes, it's the Spring Plant Sale....another certain sign
of Spring! This year in concert with the Spring Yard Sale, Back Porch Pancake Feast and
Famous Scissors & Knife Sharpening. The volunteers of Hutchison House host this annual
Spring Plant Sale on the lawn of the museum rain or shine. There will be a fine selection of
perennials, herbs, annuals and house plants all ready to add variety and colour to your home
and garden. Come early for best selection!
Just like last Fall, we'll be digging in the gardens at
Hutchison House and just like last Fall, we'll need your contributions too. Separate
those hostas, slice a clump of day-lilies, chop off that ancient rhubarb, pot up
lilies-of-the-valley, excavate chunks of forsythia, comb through your cactus collection,
lift some lavender, filch a few phlox, pilfer your perennials, sort your spare shrubs, propagate
plants from cuttings, find a home for house plants, extract some echinacea, sprout some spinach,
comb out that goat's beard, transplant tomato plants, renovate your roses.....
Scratch your Gardener's Itch. Native or exotic, oak trees or
apple trees, we will sell them all at the 2008 Spring Plant Sale. Just drop off your
plants at Hutchison House starting Monday, the 5th of May, with a note describing
your plants so we don't have to guess (species, colour, height).
Spare garden tools? Fine. Bags of (ahem, well-rotted) manure?
Fine. Bachelor Ginko trees? Fine. Garden furniture? Fine. Flower pots? Fine. We'll sell them
too.
Stop By On Saturday Morning See what we've dug up. Eat a flap jack!
Buy some stuff, take it home, and (of coarse) start all over again! Want to know more? Just call
Hutchison House Museum at 743-9710. Digging services available. No night digging.
(An Extravaganza Sponsored by the Hutchison House
Garden Committee.)
